Get well wishes to Wooden

By Mark Buckets

Drive & Dish has a deep appreciation of the history of college basketball.

The most celebrated coach in the history of college basketball is the Wizard of Westwood, former UCLA coach John Wooden.

We were saddened to hear that Wooden sustained serious injuries stemming from his recent fall - when you're 97 breaking your collarbone and wrist is considered serious - and that he required a subsequent blood transfusion to combat anemia.

His family insists he is in good spirits and is on the road to a speedy recovery.

One can only hope that is the case.

Get well soon, Coach Wooden.

The most celebrated coach should be the one teaching players defense and self respect. That be done in Butler. Not some western golden shiny silicon school nor some wacky tobaccy east coast carolina corrupted program.

Butler be where the glory need be going

Butler Bob,

Coach Wooden is an basketball legend in Indiana. He was an All American at Purdue. He may have been the architect of UCLA basketball, but his background is 100% rooted in small town Indiana hoops.
